Castle Hill Stars
Photography | Travel
Kate and I were invited to a dear friend Niki Jones 40th birthday in a lodge in Castle Hill in the centre of the South Island.
Having been there before I guessed we might be far enough away from light pollution to warrant bringing my camera.
I realised once we had arrived that the baseplate was missing from my tripod so Niki got busy crafting a contraption that would do the same job in his man shed, using a piece of wood a screw and some gaf tape.
We went out on two freezing nights once in Lyttelton
and one night in Castle Hill and got some neat night shots of the harbour and the galactic bulge.
